2010: Getting Ready!
I've finished off Ski season with a trip to Northern Michigan with my Nephews and a good friend. My wife is healing up from ACL surgery, and starting to get around pretty well. I hope I never have to have knee surgery, after watching her tough out the surgey. I'm certain that I would be a total wimp if I had to endure the recovery process. Anyway, I have lasted through another ski season, having only taken one good fall all year, and giving one of my nephews a good laugh in the process.
Northern Michigan is amazing. I had avoided going there for years, assuming the terrain not hilly enough, having spent a lot of time at my relatives cottage on Lake Huron. They have some nice hills. The snow is good, and deep, and well groomed. With the current "recessed" or "depressed" or "abscessed" economy in Michigan, the crowds were light and conditions good all day even on the weekends.
We stayed in the town of Petoskey, and drove to the ski areas for 2 days of skiing. There are at least for ski resorts within a 15 to 30 minute drive of Petoskey. It would be hard to find a better weekend trip anywhere!
I'm looking forward to better weather for cycling. I've finished up some work on the house, and only have 2 more "projects" to complete. Better weather is on the way!
